I happy to share more concept artworks for the Shrine Cave for Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
I was able to share one of these paintings about a year ago, but here's the rest and some other locations and concept callouts from the start of the game.
The Shrine Cave and the Ruins that they lead to.
The shape language of the engravings on the shrines where developed by a different artist before I joined the project and are used among many assets troughout the game.
Thanks to the team at Ember Lab for all the helpful feedback and artistic direction on these designs!

Excited to share some of the work I've done for Kena: Bridge of Spirits!
I was a part of the environment art team and got to work on asset creation, collision, optimization and bug fixing.
Here are some of the trees I got to work on that can be seen in multiple levels in the game.
Some of the assets I got to take from sculpting/resculpting to finish and some I took from texturing to finish, working on sculpts by Sparx (Virtuos) studio.
A big thanks to my amazing Lead Julian Vermeulen and my talented teammates!
And to Josh and Mike Grier for the vision and the opportunity to work on this beautiful world we all created.

Here is another real-time character, this time fully in Unreal Engine 4! The concept art is made by Tatiana Vetrova ( //www.artstation.com/artwork/kv0kl ).
For this one, I wanted to touch various areas that I couldn't on another projects. Starting with mixing cloth sculpted in Zbrush with Marvelous Designer work, as well as a bit of hard surface. My focus on this project was to get the correct vibe of the concept art into the character.
For the clothing, the shirt and pants were done with Marvelous Designer and modified later on Zbrush, the rest was sculpted from scratch in ZBrush.
Texturing was very interesting since the character has many different cloth textures, and being more sci-fi, I could experiment to get the right look. I also made some masks to play with different fresnel effects on the Unreal cloth shaders, depending on the type of cloth it was.
Face texturing was done with a base from a Texturing XYZ set, but modified heavily to fit the character better (breakdown of the texturing is a bit below on the post). I used cavity masking and scattering to get a better result with the digital human's skin shader.
Hair was done placing hair cards. However, eyelashes and eyebrows were done using the alembic hairs implementation in Unreal. The main reason for using 2 techniques was to test the use of both common hair cards for games, as well as XGen hairs in Unreal.
I'd like to thank my supervisor, Nicolas Niño, who was extremely helpful giving feedback and tips for all the steps of the process, specially with the Unreal implementation . And to my classmates who have, as always, been very willing to help with feedback.
*UV and Wireframe information are at the bottom of the post.

This was my submission for the term 1 final project at Think Tank Training Centre.
The goal was to recreate a 2D concept in 3D and I chose this amazing photobash done by WT Feng - //www.artstation.com/artwork/rAGwm2
I was impressed by the composition, unique objects and the look and feel of the room and thought it would be an interesting experience to replicate it in 3D from start to finish in just 5 weeks.
I would like to thank my instructors, classmates, family and friends as their support, feedback and encouragement helped me push myself and get this project done on time. Special thanks to:
